To mark the 120th anniversary of Łętownia’s Volunteer Fire Brigade, Stowarzyszenie Gromada Łętownia made an anniversary film. Rather than a dry account of dates, it is a vivid history told by the firefighters themselves. Their words are full of emotion, and there are many moving moments throughout the film.

The film premiered on YouTube and Facebook on 16 August 2026.

About the film

Studio interviews

The film brings together more than a dozen interviews recorded in a specially prepared studio, with both the brigade’s oldest members and younger firefighters. Each conversation is a personal, often moving journey through the unit’s history, seen through the eyes of the people who helped shape it.

Archival material

We used more than 100 archival sources of various kinds: old photographs, minutes, commemorative books and VHS tapes. They give the firefighters’ stories depth and a tangible historical dimension.

Dramatised reconstruction

The film also includes an almost eight-minute dramatised reconstruction showing what firefighting might have looked like 100 years ago. We built a special wooden house for the scenes, which was then burned during filming. We also used horses and a historic horse-drawn fire pump more than a century old.

Acknowledgements

We were able to secure financial support from Bank Spółdzielczy w Jordanowie for this project, for which we are very grateful.
